RoadTrip Tabletop Charcoal Grill: Pros and Cons

Coleman RoadTrip Tabletop Charcoal GrillIf you prefer charcoal grilling vs gas grilling, you don’t have to lug around the old school Weber BBQ to do it. Now you can use the Coleman RoadTrip Charcoal Grill.

This portable BBQ makes grilling easy, whether you are camping, at a tailgater, the beach or the park.

At only 19 pounds, it’s light and small enough to carry. However, just like the LXE grill, it’s big enough to grill for a family or group of friends. 12 burgers at one time to be exact. (Grilling space = 225 square inches).

But don’t think you are stuck cooking just burgers. Have you checked out my BBQ breakfast ideas or how to cook a barbecue pizza?

In fact, if you like meat, vege or shrimp kabobs, this shish kabob set fits perfectly in the grill and lets you easily organize and turn your food without a lot of effort.

Skewers are virtually an essential addition to grilling because they can make cooking easier, cleanup faster and kids love them. Not to mention that you can also use them for s’mores.

FYI: exact measurements are 22.1 x 16.6 x 10.9 inches

Small Grills May Be the New Best Grills

In addition to being easy to carry, it’s compact size, folding legs and secure lid latch make it super easy to store out of the way. This can be especially helpful if you don’t have a lot of space – or if you are going car camping and have limited space in your vehicle.

The RoadTrip Tabletop is Different than Other Charcoal Grills

RoadTrip Tabletop Grill OpenUnlike other traditional charcoal BBQs, the RoadTrip has a removable ash pan, making it quick and easy to dispose of charcoal ashes. And when cleaning can be done in minutes, you are more likely you use and enjoy outdoor cooking.

Another nice feature of this tabletop grill is that you can adjust the intensity of the heat. This lets you cook a wider variety of items with less over-charred disaster dinners. Oops!

Yes You Can Close the Grill Lid While Cooking

Some people ask if you have to grill with the lid open on such a compact griller. You can do your grilling the with lid open or closed (depending on how tall your food is of course).

You Get a Portable Carrier with the Coleman RoadTrip Charcoal Grill?

Even though a carrying case is not required for this grill, there is one available should you want one. The RoadTrip Grill Carry Bag is designed specifically for this BBQ and is a simple way to keep your car clean if you plan to take the grill with you on camping trips, sports events, etc.. It’s just about $35, which is an inexpensive accessory, when it comes to making clean-up easier.

A Potential Downside to the RoadpTrip:

Although I really like the tabletop grill, it can not-so-convenient to use if you don’t have a table or elevated surface nearby on which to put it. OK, yes you can buy the Coleman RoadTrip Portable Tabletop Grill Stand, but you may not want to spend money on a portable table. I’ll let you figure out what to do on this one.
